"Is Fort Drum really that bad?"

We get it — nobody Googles Fort Drum and gets excited. But the families who actually live here? Most of them don't want to leave. Here's what they know that you don't.

Honest answer: is this a good place to raise kids?
Yes. The military community is tight, the outdoor access is unreal, and your kids will grow up tougher than most. Here's what families actually do here.

CYSS Youth Programs

On-post childcare, youth sports, summer camps, before/after school. Register on MilitaryChildCare.com the day you get orders — the waitlist is 3-6 months and it doesn't start until you sign up.

Spouse Community

Fort Drum's spouse community is genuinely one of the strongest in the Army. Your FRG, the North Country Spouses Club, and the Fort Drum Spouses Facebook group will be your lifeline — especially during deployments.
